20:00 (08:00 pm) - Sunday Movies Night - Game Night w/Nick C.

It’s game night this Sunday. Zoom link to show.

First we have to start with The Rules of the Game (1939), Jean Renoir’s scathing satire of bourgeois blowhards.

Then we’ll watch The Game (1997), David Fincher’s ingenious treatise on unchecked greed and the lack of imagination that poisons the men who have “everything.”

Finally, we’ll watch The Game (1984), another film by Bill Rebane (Blood Harvest) where a bunch of old people run around a “mansion” (that looks susupiciously like a Holiday Inn) and chase around young folks for fun. Some of them get naked. Do I mean the young folks or the old folks? You’ll have to watch to find out.

A NOTE ABOUT THE RULES OF THE GAME (1939): While the film is brilliant in its depiction of upper-crust cruelty, one early scene does involve the killing of actual rabbits and birds during a hunting scene. While the scene is purposeful and intentionally anger-inducing, I figured a warning was warranted.

Note: all times are EST.
