Agenda: Progressive Host of “The Majority Report” Sam Seder Debates Twenty Trump Supporters

Grab your popcorn and favorite beverage because tonight we will watch and discuss the recent 90 minute appearance of Sam Seder on the YouTube Jubilee channel called “Surround” where he debated a gathering of young MAGA voters. It will be instructive for us to not only hear and try and understand the viewpoints of these young people as they try and argue their right wing views but for us also to critically assess together the quality of the progressive arguments Sam offers in return during each encounter. Where did Sam hit home runs and where did his arguments fall short or possibly go awry? Were there any additional or alternative arguments that could have or should have been offered?

The following claims were debated

  1. Trump’s attack on DEI hides his real goal of giving corporations more power.
  2. Unless you’re a billionaire, religious fundamentalist, or a xenophobic nationalist, voting for Trump was a mistake.
  3. The GOP will destroy Social Security on healthcare. Trump‘s policies make the rich richer and the working class poorer.
  4. Abortion is immoral and should not be legal.
