Tonight’s Agenda: A Celebration of the Revolutionary Thought of James Baldwin
Tonight we will watch and discuss a powerful documentary created to honor James Baldwin who has been called GOD’S REVOLUTIONARY VOICE: a literary, philosophical, cultural, artistic, and ideological genius, whose ideas on the revolutionary remaking of world humanity continue to exert their power.
“To Fulfill the Unfulfilled, To Answer the Unanswered: The Revolutionary James Baldwin,” the title of this film, is a documentary produced by The Saturday Free School for Philosophy and Black Liberation. Premiered on August 2, 2024—Baldwin’s 100th birth anniversary—it explores Baldwin’s revolutionary evolution and positions him as a philosopher inseparable from Martin Luther King Jr. and the Black Freedom Movement. The premiere was part of a three-day celebration in Philadelphia, featuring an Afro-Asiatic Peace Concert and the exhibit Love & Revolution: James Baldwin Speaks to Our Time.
Amid today’s national crises of violence, poverty, and meaning, Baldwin’s work offers us a path toward healing and transformation. His writings reflect both the possibility and necessity of the birth of a new American people and challenge us to complete the unfinished democratic and emancipatory struggle.

A mystery-of-the-week series following Charlie Cale, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve. Guest stars are plentiful throughout, from Ellen Barkin and Adrien Brody to Luis Guzmán and Chloë Sevigny. An inverted detective series, also known as a “howcatchem” and popularized by “Columbo,” the crime and perpetrator are shown at the beginning of each episode, and follows Charlie as she tries to solve the mystery.
