Tonight’s S&A Agenda: Scholars Challenging The Ihra ‘Definition’ Of anti-semitism Which Is Being Used To Justify Israel’S Genocide

Tonight, we will view and critically engage with a recorded webinar presentation hosted by the Open University Solidarity Group in May 2025. This session features scholars offering rigorous critiques of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism—a framework that has been widely adopted by institutions and governments, yet increasingly challenged for its role in suppressing legitimate discourse on Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. Our discussion will explore the implications of this definition for academic freedom, public debate, and human rights advocacy, as well as consider strategies for meaningful resistance and alternative approaches.

NOTE: We will watch the first 75 minutes together. The whole video, which includes Q&A, is a total of 2 hours.
