Tonight’s Topic: Fascism in the American Mirror: Confronting the Past to Fight the Present
Sean St. Heart will read aloud his latest essay, a powerful editorial analyzing the radical right’s growing fascist movement in the United States. The essay traces America’s long history of reactionary violence — from the Ku Klux Klan to McCarthyism to COINTELPRO — and argues that fascism is never defeated through civility but only through mass mobilization, direct confrontation, and collective resistance.
The piece highlights how today’s Republican Party, rooted in white Christian nationalism, poses an existential threat to democracy, while also indicting the Democratic Party’s neoliberal failures for creating the conditions in which authoritarianism thrives. It concludes with a call to build a broad united front across communities, movements, and institutions to resist fascism and demand real justice — racial, economic, and social.
Sean is a sociologist, philosopher, freelance investigative journalist, and the host of the podcast Coup Save America, not Save the Coup. The podcast takes a politically progressive stance, aiming to challenge the status quo through in-depth analysis of social and political issues.

I would like to invite everyone to join me for the mystery crime/comedy series, Poker Face. A Columbo inspired drama.
A mystery-of-the-week series following Charlie Cale, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve. Guest stars are plentiful throughout, from Ellen Barkin and Adrien Brody to Luis Guzmán and Chloë Sevigny. An inverted detective series, also known as a “howcatchem” and popularized by “Columbo,” the crime and perpetrator are shown at the beginning of each episode, and follows Charlie as she tries to solve the mystery.
