23:00 (11:00 pm) - Drawing w/“Texas Tom” Webber

I will be offering another laid back, drawing workshop for all levels of ability. During this segment I hope to introduce you to accessible drawing techniques that are both fun and meditative. We will draw along together and my comrades can engage me in chat with some questions. Hopefully by the end of the segment we will have completed (or at least made a lot of headway towards completing) two drawings. I’m thinking tonight one of the drawings may have an animal as our subject.

Bring the following w/you:

  1. A pencil (HB to B) and/or pen (fountain, Micron or ball point will work).
  2. I will have on my Pinterest Board (linked below) a few photo references on hand of faces, animals, plants, fruits or vegetables, or landscapes. Be sure that each photo has a healthy tonal range from light to dark — not just a lot of black and white details but one that includes plenty of shades of grey or middle tones. Dramatic single-sourced lighting is best. For my photos, just go to my Pinterest Board at this link where I have lots of reference photos handy: https://pin.it/1fgAunY
  3. Blank drawing paper or a drawing pad.

00:30 (12:30 am) - The Oka Legacy – Oka Crisis w/Walter Kiriaka

In the summer of 1990, all eyes were on the small town of Oka for a standoff between the Mohawk people of Kanehsatake, Quebec police, and eventually the Canadian army. The town of Oka’s plans to expand a golf course onto un-ceded Mohawk land triggered the violent clash. The Oka Crisis, which lasted 78 days, drew worldwide attention, catapulting Indigenous land rights into the spotlight.

05:00 (05:00 am) - Pulling Adolf’s Big Gun Out w/Joe in Norway (tentative)

Depending on the weather and the Norwegian military allowing access, there is more Nazi shit in store for everyone as I continue my trip through north Norway. Never forget.

We will tour the last remaining intact and operational canons from the Nazi occupation of Norway. Outside of Harstad lay a number of artillery installations that were meant for battleships but ended up being re-purposed for land use. The last remaining canon is maintained by the Norwegian military for historical purposes. Side note the canons are big:

The barrel diameter of 40.6 cm (16”) is big enough to contain an adult man. At Trondenes in Harstad, four of these terrifying giants from World War II have survived into the 21st century.
