Enough For Everyone — A Nonviolent Approach To Economics

Join us for a virtual screening and “teach-in” featuring political philosopher Dr. Michael Allen. We’ll explore Mahatma Gandhi’s radical alternative to Western economic models, shifting the focus from competition and scarcity to human connection and moral duty.

We’ll dive into:

  • Sufficiency over Scarcity: Will compare Hobbesian emphasis on scarcity and competition to Gandhi’s sufficiency, or what he called the “Great Law of Nature.”
  • Wealth as Moral Duty: Seeing wealth not as personal profit, but as a moral responsibility to ensure everyone has enough while prioritizing the well-being of the entire community.
  • Trusteeship & Socialism: Examining Gandhi’s complex stance on capitalism and how we might achieve economic equality through modern participatory democratic practices rather than violent revolution.

This session is perfect for anyone interested in systems change, nonviolent social theory, and reimagining a world where the economy serves human life and shared ecology. We’d love to see you there!
