For tonight’s session, we will watch a presentation by hosts of the YouTube channel Crisis of Perception of the book: Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America. Unpacking Sarah Kendzior’s acclaimed book, the presenters map out a “franchise model of corruption” and show how systemic decay relies heavily on public exhaustion and media spectacle to dismantle democratic guardrails. We will be discussing how we, as activists, can combat collective apathy, see past deliberate media distractions, and actively preserve our baseline standards for truth and accountability.
