20:30 (8:30 pm) - Bundy: Patriot or Terrorist? (2hrs 23m) w/Henchman21

Blurb: An investigative journey, uncovering the controversial saga of a Nevada ranching family who re-ignited a near century-old national debate over land rights, government overreach, and armed resistance. Interviews, and firsthand accounts against a backdrop of historical narratives & events elucidate the deadly standoff’s between the Bundy supporters and federal agents, revealing the deep fractures in American politics, identity, and law, while challenging viewers to “reckon” with the complexities of patriotism, protest, and power in the modern West.

$0.02: I retitled the video, not sure it’s a big deal. The original title is “The Family That Had 2 Armed Standoffs With The Government and Won.” There were 3 other documentaries, “No Mans Land” which only covered the OR standoff (1hr 20min), “American Standoff,” (2hr 16min) which also primarily centered around the OR events, and the PBS Frontline episode, “American Patriot,” that was only 54min run time. I wanted to get both armed standoffs, the NV and OR one, so went with Oohkayeye’s longer investigative report/documentary.

I was actually going to travel down there (ST George UT) myself and add some personal vids and pics to bolster the story but a change in plans pushed that out a bit so I figured I’d just cover it now.

Join us for a daily topical conversation about cultural and political economic research subjects plus discussion about scholarly articles posted to the TAC Discord server.

Agenda: Exploring 2 Sides Of The Religion Debate

This evening, we will be viewing & discussing Chistopher Hitchens And Tariq Ramadan Debate: Is Islam A Relgion Of Peace in which they respectfully solicit different analysis & critque’s of each others positions.

Islam is the 2nd largest religion in the world constituting almost 2 billion observers worldwide, or a qtr of the global population. Exploring Ramadan’s responses to Hitchen’s theophobia and/or universal denouncement of ALL religion is culturally insightful & suggests a conceptual relevancy in the more generalized spirituality discussion (and/or in navigating other sets of beliefs or dogma).

About Tariq Ramadan (طارق رمضان,; born 1962) Tariq is a Swiss Muslim academic & writer. He is the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna. He was a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at the University of Oxford, and is a member of the UK Foreign Office Advisory Group on Freedom of Religion or Belief. He was listed by Time magazine in 2004 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Tariq is currently contesting allegations of rape & sexual misconduct.

About Christopher Hitchens (1949 – 2011) Christopher was a British & American journalist & author of 18 books on faith, religion, culture, politics, & literature. He graduated in 1970 from Oxford & is known as one of the “Four Horsemen” of New Atheism. His epistemological razor, which states that “what can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence”, is still of mark in philosophy & law.

Racism remains a deeply entrenched issue in American society, and few individuals articulate its complexities as effectively as Tim Wise. As a lawyer, writer, activist, and speaker, Wise has dedicated decades to exposing the realities of white privilege, systemic inequality, and the urgent need for meaningful reform. He has slso been a vocal advocate for critical race theory. This evening, we will be viewing and discussing a challenging speech in which he presents compelling insights on racism in America.

Recognized for his direct and unapologetic approach, Wise emphasizes that racism extends beyond individual prejudice—it is a systemic issue that has historically advantaged white Americans while marginalizing communities of color. He frequently references historical policies, such as redlining and mass incarceration, as evidence that racial disparities are not coincidental but rather deeply embedded within societal structures.

He also stresses the importance of moving beyond a “charitable mindset” to a “solidarity mindset,” encouraging people to see themselves as interconnected with marginalized communities rather than simply offering help from a distance.
