Agenda: Decoding Inequality: A Critical Look AI and Racial Bias

Tonight’s gathering, we will critically examine the intersection of artificial intelligence, systemic bias, and racial equity by viewing a discussion between Katie Phang and Esosa Osa, CEO of Onyx Impact, about the launch of Aisha. Aisha is an AI chat assistant intentionally built to center Black history and community needs to counteract the biases of mainstream technology. We will also offer a brief introduction to the Blackout Report, a comprehensive document from Onyx Impact that catalogs over 15,000 specific policy-driven harms—such as cuts to health research and civil rights protections—that have disproportionately impacted the Black community. By engaging with these topics, we hope to deepen our awareness of digital justice and consider how we might advocate for more ethical, transparent, and inclusive technology that reflects our shared values.
